Analytical Report: Key Findings from the Survey
This summary and the full report is aimed at helping you navigate through the rich data set of the NSTSO results. It highlights some of the more important and significant findings from the survey. You should read the national and local results – and use the analytical tools on this site – in the light of this analysis.
A main focus of the report is to establish - at a national level - the factors that have the most impact on the degree of influence that third sector organisations perceive local statutory bodies to have on their success, and thus the score for National Indicator 7 (NI 7). This is done through the use of statistical analytical techniques detailed in the report. The key findings of this analysis are detailed in the chart below.

The elements that have the largest impact on third sector organisations perceptions on whether local statutory bodies have a very positive or positive influence on their success.
This shows that the most important ‘driver’ of the degree to which third sector organisations perceive local statutory bodies to influence their success, is their satisfaction with their ability to influence local decisions that affect them. At the national level we find that where third sector organisations are satisfied with their ability to influence local decisions, then they are significantly more likely to state that local statutory bodies have a positive influence on their success. This issue has a greater impact than any other individual element.
The second most important ‘driver’ is the degree to which third sector organisations have current direct dealings with local statutory bodies. It is clear from the results that where third sector organisations and local statutory bodies are in contact with each other, then the positive impact that local statutory bodies are having is generally more positive.
